EXTRA MILE RUN FUND-RAISING INSTRUCTIONS
Here are some simple steps that can be taken to jump-start your fundraising efforts. Please be sure to read the instructions carefully.
1. Compile a list of potential donors. (Ask your spouse, parents, friends, family members, work associates for suggestions as to who should be on your list)
2. Begin to tell everyone in your circle of influence what you are doing. "I am running a marathon on behalf of an inner-city child"
3. Tell them why you are running. "I am running with more than 400 other runners. There is one runner for every child in the school."
4. Ask them if they would like to help you change the life of a child in the inner-city by giving towards your run.
5. Utilize our printable information piece to send out to everyone you spoke with.
6. Personalize your letter. Instead of "Dear Sir," write "Dear Uncle Ray."
7. Create labels with the following address for self-addressed-stamped envelopes. Label envelopes, affix stamps:
Be Change Attn: Sherene Gruver
9470 Micron Ave
Sacramento, CA 95827
* These labeled and stamped envelopes go with your letter. Put both in an envelope and send them to everyone you can think of.
8. Utilize the online giving options. Phone them and share your passion. Ask, "Would you be willing to sponsor me?" If yes, point them to your personal fundraising page.
