Be Change Runners will begin the 18-week training leading up to the California International Marathon, Monday, August 3. The training offers beginning and intermediate training for runners training for Marathon, Relay, or Half-Marathon distances.
Over the past four years, more than 100 hundred runners have trained with Jason Harper and his team. The staggering statistic is that Be Change Runners have had a 100% finish rate for those who finished the 18 week training.
Harper credits this to his two-fold approach. First, his runners are highly motivated knowing that they are running on behalf of an incredible cause; and inner-city child's fight for an equal education and health care access. Second, Harper utilizes Hal Higdon's training regiment.
Runners seeking full marathon distance training are asked to come able to jog 3 miles in 33 minutes in order to participate. Without that cardio/conditioning base, runners will be asked to consider half marathon distance for the December 6th race.
Beginners/Novice train M|T|TH|SAT at EITHER 5:00AM or 6:30PM.
5:00 AM LEADER: JASON HARPER
6:30 PM LEADER: KATIE KEELER
Intermediates train M|T|TH|F|SAT at EITHER 5:00AM or 6:30 PM.
Both groups meet for long runs on Saturday at 6:00AM.
* All workouts begin running promptly, so arrive early to lace up, etc.
Registered runners pay $10 to cover the cost of their Be Change shirt.
